KC Ellis began work in graphic arts in New York City after several years as a Letter Carrier in Pennsylvania where, in the late 1970s, he served as president of Branch 2151 NALC. He learned the printing trade before the digital age, becoming a journeyman 4/color stripper just hours before computers rendered such skills obsolete.
Before turning to electronic prepress and desktop publishing, he spent a few years as a member of UFCW working in meat processing plants in Portland, Oregon and Kansas City, Missouri. In the early 1990s he worked as an aircraft assembler outside Philadelphia at a plant organized by the UAW. He returned to the printing field in the mid-1990s and started producing Web sites in addition to his prepress work.
He was on the communications staff of SEIU 36 from 2003 to 2005 when the local merged with 32BJ SEIU and was the principal webmaster for 32BJ from 2005 to 2012.
He is the father of two sons, Mike, our sound engineer, who became a father himself in 2007, and Charles, our programmer who is also lead programmer for the game Pirates of the Burning Sea. His closest friend, Steve O'Connor, who happens to live in Italy —closest to the heart, but farthest apart—complained that the old photo (view) was many years too old. He was right. Now we're using our wine cellar version.
Ann joined the firm in 2008 as Production Coordinator after a long career in graphic arts. Proficient in all aspects of print production starting as a proofreader in the late '70s, she graduated to jobs in prepress, mark up, graphic design, production coordinator and sales support.
Ann earned her Masters in Social Work in 2011 and is working in her new field as a medical social worker in a community support agency, but remains on-call to oversee our design projects as needed
